Keyboard Shortcuts
The shortcuts ClickFit sets up for you, every action you can bind, and how to change them.
All shortcuts are global: they act on the focused window, whatever app it belongs to.
Default shortcuts
ClickFit’s defaults use ⌃⌥ (Control + Option), a combination macOS and most apps leave free.
| Shortcut | Action |
|---|---|
| ⌃⌥← ⌃⌥→ | Left / right half |
| ⌃⌥↑ ⌃⌥↓ | Top / bottom half |
| Two arrows together | Quarter — e.g. ⌃⌥← + ↑ for the top left |
| ⌃⌥A ⌃⌥S ⌃⌥D | First / center / last third |
| ⌃⌥↩ | Maximize / Restore |
| ⌃⌥C | Almost Maximize |
| ⌃⌥W | Center Window |
| ⌃⌥E ⌃⌥R | Make Larger / Make Smaller |
| ⌃⌥` | Custom Resize |
| ⌃⌥⌫ | Restore previous position |
| ⌃⌥⌘↑ ⌃⌥⌘↓ | Maximize Height / Maximize Width |
| ⌃⌥⌘→ ⌃⌥⌘← | Move to next / previous display |
| ⌃⌥L | Show Layout Picker Pro |
Change a shortcut
- Open Window Actions in the panel.
- Click the shortcut next to an action — or its empty field — and press the new key combination.
- Right-click an action to Clear Shortcut or Restore Default.
Clicking the action’s name runs it right away, so you can try it before binding a key.
The recorder tells you when a combination won’t work:
- In use — another ClickFit action, layout or workspace already has it.
- Reserved — another app has registered it as a global shortcut.
- If macOS uses the combination in its menus — ⌘M for Minimize, say — ClickFit still takes it but tells you which command you’re replacing. The ClickFit shortcut wins in every app.

Size settings
- Almost Maximize fills 80% of the screen’s width and height by default.
- Custom Resize sets a window to 60% × 60% by default, without moving it.
Adjust both with the sliders under their rows in Window Actions.
Minimize All Windows and Hide All Apps act on the whole display. Run them again to bring back exactly the windows they put away.
