Gestures
Throw windows into place with a flick, pick a layout from a radial menu, and use trackpad swipes.
Throw to Zone and the Layout Picker use their own modifier combination, ⌃⌥ by default, so they never get in the way of moving and resizing. Change it under Gestures.
Throw to Zone
Pro
Hold ⌃⌥, press the left mouse button on a window and flick the cursor in a direction. A preview follows the cursor; let go to send the window there. How far you flick decides how precise the target is:
| Distance | Target |
|---|---|
| Barely moved, upward | Full screen |
| Barely moved, downward (or a plain click) | Almost Maximize |
| A short flick | Half or quarter in that direction |
| A longer flick | A cell of the 3×3 grid |
| A long flick toward another display | That display |
Press Esc or release the modifier before letting go to cancel.
Layout Picker
Pro
Hold ⌃⌥ and right-click to open a radial menu of your nine favorite layouts around the cursor. Hover a layout — or move between them with the arrow keys — to preview how your visible windows would be arranged, with each app’s icon in its slot.
Click or press Return to apply it. Press Esc or click outside to close the picker. ⌃⌥L opens it from the keyboard.
Trackpad gestures
These use the trackpad directly, without a modifier key. Find them under Gestures → Trackpad Gestures.
| Gesture | What it does |
|---|---|
| 3-finger swipe down | Minimize the window under the cursor (default) |
| 4-finger swipe down | Off by default — assign Minimize All Windows, for example |
| 3-finger double-tap | Throw to Zone Pro |
| 4-finger double-tap | Layout Picker Pro |
Swipes. On the free plan, the 3-finger swipe can minimize and the 4-finger swipe can minimize all windows. With Pro, you can assign any window action to either one.
Throw with the trackpad. Double-tap with three fingers, move the cursor toward a zone, then click once to confirm. Right-click, press Esc or double-tap with three fingers again to cancel.
Tap or click. Each double-tap trigger can use a physical double-click instead: switch it under 3-Finger Trigger or 4-Finger Trigger.
macOS uses a 3-finger swipe down for App Exposé. If that’s turned on in System Settings → Trackpad → More Gestures, ClickFit leaves the swipe to macOS and the panel shows the gesture as inactive. Turn App Exposé off, or switch it to four fingers, to use it in ClickFit.
