Release Notes
What's new in each version of ClickFit.
New Features
- Function Key (fn) Shortcut Support
The
fnkey can now be used as a modifier when recording global shortcuts. In the Action Hub,fnis displayed as a 🌐 globe icon that inherits the current theme color. - Smart Layout Assignment
On first press of a layout shortcut, each window is now matched to the nearest slot by top-left origin distance — windows travel the shortest possible path. When two windows compete for the same slot, the frontmost window wins.
Improvements
- Layout Cycling Is Now Z-Order Independent
Cycling state is tracked by slot index rather than window z-order. Previously,
AXRaisecalls after each layout application would reorder the window stack and break cycle detection — this is now fixed. - Action Hub Scroll Padding Fixed
Trailing padding in the Action Hub now correctly adapts to whether the system scroll bar is in overlay or legacy mode — content no longer hides behind the scrollbar.
Improvements
- Smarter Snap Edge Detection
The snapping engine now considers edge-extension candidates from a wider set of visible windows. Alignment accuracy in complex multi-window layouts is noticeably improved.
- Coupling Preview Refinements
The coupled-window preview overlay was internally rewritten for better performance and accuracy when several windows are visualized simultaneously.
New Features
- Coupled Resize Preview
When resizing a window that is snapped to a neighbor, a live translucent overlay shows exactly how the adjacent window will reflow — before you release the drag.
Improvements
- Trial & Licensing Improvements
Several improvements were made to how ClickFit manages trial sessions and license state. Activation is now more reliable across app restarts, system updates, and user account changes — reducing edge cases where the trial period could behave unexpectedly.
Requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later.
